Members-only retreats at Tara Hills and Kurlana – go deeper with your practice

Tara Hills sunriseLifeflow members-only retreats build on the experience that you gain at our public retreats. Each retreat is supervised and includes classes, guided meditations and deep relaxation sessions (and stretch and breathe during our summer retreat). A teacher is also available for one on one sessions. There are many fewer sessions than in our main retreats - this allows greater autonomy but also requires more self guidance and ability to structure your own day in retreat. Prerequisites apply to all of these retreats - details are below.

Summer 10-day retreat at Tara Hills 2012-2013

Summer retreat 2012-2013

Opening to death, opening to life

2 pm Fri 28 Dec 2012–2 pm Sun 6 Jan 2013
Ann Calvert and Lisa Hancock

About this retreat
Every time you meditate you are practicing letting go. And even if only for a short time, you are actually letting your idea of a fixed identity ‘die’. Impermanence and death are an integral part of life.  They are also central to the teachings of the meditation tradition: learning to let go of your identity is viewed as a necessary part of living life to the full.

We will begin this retreat by exploring our various cultural beliefs and rituals surrounding death, and investigating how our own Western beliefs shape our own attitudes to life. We will then draw on meditation teachings to develop both conceptual, and also a direct emotional understanding of death and impermanence. What does it feel like to fully let go? Where does this leave our sense of self? How can we utilize a deep appreciation for the fragility of our lives, and of the inevitability of our deaths, to fully embrace living?

As with all Members Retreats there will be a daily guided meditation and a deep relaxation session, allowing ample time for members to develop their own practice. The first formal session will be deep relaxation starting at 2 pm on the Friday. You can arrive any time from 10 am onwards on the Friday, and everyone is welcome to come for lunch that day.

Please note that prerequisites apply to this retreat. Participants are expected to stay for the entire 10 days. Also, if you are going straight back to work after this retreat, we recommend that you allow one extra day to settle back into your normal routines before recommencing work, ie arranging your leave so that you are not required back at work until Tue 8 Jan.

Easter retreat at Kurlana

Experience the big skies and starry nights at Kurlana Mallee Sanctuary

Tantra – the path of self-contained joy
(Theme will continue over both Easter and October long weekends)

Retreat starts with lunch at 1 pm on Friday 29 March
You are welcome to arrive any time on the Friday morning.
Retreat finishes after lunch on Monday 1 April
Graham Williams et al

About this retreat
Joy can be a wonderful explosion of ecstasy, almost drunken in its overwhelming exuberance. But is it possible to sustain a state of joy? This is one of the main aims of the path of integration and when you live with joy it’s a quiet, peaceful sense of being alive in your body. Your body is your life, and the aim is to live in your body, being in touch with its core; the creative drive of your instincts, the warmth of your heart and the clarity of your head.

This retreat will show how to discover self-contained joy so that it doesn’t matter whether you feel up or down, full of energy or low in energy. Self-contained joy can be sustained because it’s not dependent on what’s happening around you. You will learn how to draw up the wealth, resources and energy of your instincts and how to integrate them with your thoughts and emotions so that you can build a rich, warm relationship with your body, with yourself, with your friends and community and with the world.

7-Day retreat at Tara Hills

Enjoy winter ambience in the fresh air of Tara Hills

Acting from balance
Begins with lunch at 1 pm on Sunday 7 July
Finishes after lunch on Saturday 13 July

About this retreat
At the heart of the meditation tradition is the experience of balance, when your body, thoughts and emotions are connected and working in the same direction. This is a blissful state; it can be directly felt right through the body and mind. But, it can be more than just a moment of quiet peace – this state can actually serve as an inner compass for navigating through life’s journey. By learning to act from this balanced state you may find that life doesn’t always ‘work to the plan’, but it can open to a richness and contentment beyond your expectations.

General Information

About members-only retreats
The Lifeflow Members’ Retreats at Tara Hills have been set up especially to support members build their own retreat practice. Each retreat will include a daily meditation class that will focus on the practical exercises from a recent Level 3 and 4 module, along with two other guided meditation sessions each day. The remaining time will be left free so that members can do their own meditation practice.

These retreats are self catered and do not have the close supervision of a public retreat. This results in considerable savings to our members. It is expected that anyone attending these retreats is able to be self guided in their meditation exercises. A Lifeflow teacher will be present and available for interviews so you can check up on how your retreat work is going.
