Learn meditation through
a structured series of Lifeflow courses
We offer a range of Lifeflow courses and retreats
over 4 terms throughout the year for people of all ages and backgrounds.
You can attend just one 7-week Level 1 meditation course, or go
on to attend the other Levels as your time permits. Progressing
through all the Levels will take a minimum of 5 years, although
you can take longer if you wish. We encourage students to take their
time, so their experiences and understanding are well grounded.
Each term we offer a Free
Talk. The talk will be a general introduction to Lifeflow meditation
and its benefits. Each talk finishes with a short guided meditation.
Use the free talk as an opportunity to meet the teachers, discover
what we're on about and see if it is suitable for you.
Our Level 1 Meditation
Course provides a range of simple and effective Lifeflow meditation
practices to get you started. We use meditations that are based
on body awareness, breathing, guided imagery, movement and sound.
No previous experience is required to join our Level 1 course. Lifeflow
meditation can be practised by anyone, regardless of age or belief.
In each 1 1/4 hour class we usually spend up to 15 minutes covering
the background theory and answering any questions that you may have.
We recommend that all newcomers to Lifeflow begin with our Level
1 course; we have found that the range of meditations and depth
of experience of our teachers means that even people with 10 or
more years prior experience have found benefit from our Level 1
course. Level 1 runs for 1 term of 7 weeks.
Our Level
2 course takes the material covered in the Level 1 course and
develops it further. Build on the exercises of concentration and
inner awareness, gaining confidence to extend the meditations further.
You can also enhance your understanding of the theory and wisdom
that underpins Lifeflow meditation. This level considerably extends
the theory and practice of the Level 1 course and provides the foundation
for you to establish your own practice of meditation. At this level
we usually spend up to 1/2 hr in each class covering the theory
and questions asked. Level 2 runs for 3 terms of 7 weeks each. We
also recommend that you complete at least one retreat whilst attending
Level 2.
Our Level
3 course allows you to take your understanding of Lifeflow meditation
theory and yoga-tantra to a much deeper level, whilst enhancing
your practical experience. Each class includes plenty of time for
discussion - allowing you the opportunity to link your meditation
experiences back to what is happening in your life. To get the most
from this level it is assumed that you have your own meditation
practice established and that you attend at least one retreat per
year. We usually spend up to an hour covering the theory and questions
relating to the theory, as well as questions coming from the students'
own practice. Level 3 runs for 8 terms (ie 2 years) of 7 weeks each.
Our Level
4 course ranges across topics derived from the highest levels
of Buddhist psychology and philosophy. As always we link the theory
back to the realities of everyday life. The course is intended for
students who have a well established personal meditation practice
and ongoing retreat practice. Level 4 runs for 8 terms (ie 2 years)
of 7 weeks each.
All students can make use of our Practice
Classes. These are for anyone who has completed our Level 1
course (or higher) or a retreat. They provide the environment to
enhance your Lifeflow experience and the motivation to keep your
own meditation practice going.
What about Lifeflow
retreats?
Lifeflow retreat practice gives you time to rest, to restore your
energies and the opportunity to let go of deadlines and busyness.
You can learn to nurture yourself, restore a sense of balance and
well-being, and open up to nature.
Throughout the year we offer a range of high
quality retreats at Tara
Hills Retreat Centre. Retreat practice allows you to go deeper
with the Lifeflow Meditations and to explore a topic of meditation
in more detail. Many students have experienced profound realisations
or touched deep experiences of calm and joy whilst in retreat. Retreat
practice is recommended for all students in Levels 3 and 4.
